How FlexiDry fast drying floor screeds work?
Screed, in common with any cement/water/aggregate/sand mix, hardens due to a chemical reaction – hydration - between cement and water in the mix.
Theoretically, the chemical reaction requires one part water to four parts cement by weight. However in practice, some water in the mix is taken up to varying degrees by the aggregate or sand in the mix. And obtaining the correct water to cement ratio is a balancing act: the mix needs additional water to be workable enough to place, and to fill voids, but excess water can make the mix weaker, porous and lead to shrinkage.
FlexiDry, when added to the mix water, allows more of the water molecules to bond, accelerating the hardening and drying time without compromising on workability, strength or durability.
The concentration of FlexiDry in the mix water will dictate the rate at which hydration and drying will accelerate.
