FlexiDry allows the screed to be laid at a reduced thickness compared to standard cementitious screeds and therefore less material is needed per project. This ultimately results in less cement being used thus reducing the carbon footprint of any project where FlexiDry is used compared standard cementitious screeds. Currently there are 1.25 tonnes of Co2 expelled in the production of every one tonne of cement.
FlexiDry Fast Drying Floor Screed is mixed on site and therefore minimal waste is achieved by giving a huge reduction in nasty landfill. It is very difficult to order the exact quantities of screed due to intolerance in the concrete substrate and therefore Ready Mixed screeds are inherent of much larger waste margins. This has a much larger effect on the environment due to the escalating costs associated around this topic giving rise to further damage to the planet.
As FlexiDry is a low volume usage liquid based additive it results in less storage being needed both on and off site, ease of handling due to small dosages plus eradicates expensive transport costs for the screed contractor due to small volumes needed. Additionally FlexiDry can be used to vary dry times from seven, fourteen and twenty one days by just altering the dosage and so removes the need for replacement screed products, removing further transport costs.
Underfloor heating utilising medium temperature piped hot water has been demonstrated to be one of the most efficient methods of space heating for homes and a wide range of commercial buildings. With the selection of a renewable heat source used to warm the circulating water, underfloor heating offers the simplest way to deliver a completely green heating solution. This is the perfect solution to assist in achieving legislative goals of zero carbon emissions for schools by 2016 and homes by 2020.
Screeds provide the best thermal conductivity and FlexiDry fast drying floor screeds being of a more dense consistency, provide a better thermal reaction to temperature change and is perfect for Underfloor Heating applications. FlexiDry fast drying floor screed is 20-30% more efficient as a thermal conductor than an anhydrite screed. FlexiDry allows the screed to be laid at a reduced thickness with a better compaction around the heating pipes and so reduces the energy requirement.
Cementitious Screeds using FlexiDry additives are completely recyclable and provide a whole life solution which can be recycled and blended with concrete for further use.
