FlexiDry for Havering's zero carbon 'My Place Centre'

The youth of Havering reinstate ‘green is in’ with the new zero carbon community centre shaping up in Harold Hill. The £4m grant from the Big Lottery Fund has been put to constructive use, creating a community facility that is eco-friendly and sustainable.

Right from the use of FlexiDry’s sustainable fast drying floor screed to the creation of an insulated building envelope for maximizing energy efficiency, the list of green measures sprawls on for Havering’s My Place Centre.

Special design inputs from Havering’s youth have ensured that the building encompasses the vibrant spirit of the youth. The building has been designed in the form of a huge caterpillar, signifying a change for the better.

FlexiDry F3 was used as an energy efficient complementary subfloor for the underfloor heating of the building, and was laid at a thickness of 75mm. Flexidry floor screeds serve as very good heat conductors, transferring the heat efficiently across the floors. The quality of the screed is highly important for underfloor heating, as a good floor screed can help to bring down the energy utilization through efficient heat transmission.

Flexidry also helps to keep wastage and non-bio degradable landfill to the minimum, and can be recycled completely for further use. When normal screeds churn out large amounts of polythene to landfill, FlexiDry is designed to completely eliminate the step of polythene curing and helps curb the generation of unnecessary landfill.
